HoneyBook or Mallow – What's the verdict?

Both Mallow and HoneyBook provide tools for businesses to handle payments, but they serve different purposes and are built with different users in mind.

HoneyBook is a multi-functional software built for freelancers and solopreneurs with payments infrastructure is built on top of Stripe.

On the other hand, Mallow was designed specifically for marketing agencies and small service-based teams. It brings invoicing and contracts together into one app, helping agency owners to save time and money.

On top of their functional differences, Mallow has significantly lower fees on all payment processing, leading to improved margins for service-based businesses.

What are Mallow's payment processing fees?

Bank Transfers
ACH and EFT bank transfers carry a fee of only $0.10 per transaction (compare that to the industry average of 1%).

Credit / Debit Cards:
You get "Interchange+" rates for card payments, which is a fancy way of saying we give you the lowest possible fee we can secure.

As such, the fee to accept card payments will vary depending on the card being used.

Debit cards: 0.35%
Credit cards: between 1.30% and 2.95%

Across all Mallow customers, the average card fee is less than 2.2%

How can Mallow provide such low transaction fees?

We implement two strategies to save you money:

First, we secure Level 2 and Level 3 data on each transaction to create more reliable and secure payments. In exchange, credit card brands provide Mallow customers with discounted processing fees!

Second, instead of hoarding a large fee margin on each of your transactions, we forfeit our margin and give it back to you as savings.

What is "Interchange+" pricing?

Interchange is a bank fee charged for processing credit and debit cards. When a card payment is made, the merchant's acquiring bank pays an interchange rate to the cardholder’s issuing bank.

Interchange rates are set by card networks (Visa, American Express, etc.), and vary depending on multiple factors, including the type of card used, the merchant's industry, and where the transaction occurs.

So how does Interchange+ pricing work?

Instead of charging you a fixed fee for every single card transaction, we bundle the Interchange rate with the payment processing costs and pass them on to you. That means you'll get the lowest possible fee on every single transaction!
